Robert Jones and Matt Watroba

Robert Jones and Matt Watroba play music that matters. It is rich and diverse, direct and powerful – a blend of American roots music that reflects the history, social change, migration, hopes and dreams of our common story and our shared humanity. Their show delivers a wonderful message of love, friendship and tolerance: where we have been, where we are, and hopefully where we can go. It is a walk through the roots and history of American music that not only educates, but entertains.

Robert and Matt will keep an audience spellbound with their music and their wit, but it is the breadth of their knowledge and their ability to inspire audiences that makes their performances significant contributions to our culture. Ever since their first meeting, over twenty years ago, they have been musical partners. Their relationship started when they hosted back-to-back radio shows on WDET-FM, Detroit. Later on they discovered a friendship based on mutual respect and a love for traditional American music – the folk, blues, spirituals, work songs, chants, and all the music that forges a historical bridge between us all.
