Folk Project Open Stage
The Folk Project Open Stage was a fantastic part of our community, and I am personally inviting you to its reboot online. The schedule is the same: the second Friday of every month. The time is 7pm to 9pm. We kick it off on Friday, March 12th. The premiere will be a special event and you’ll want to be there.
Just like in the old, live days, we’ll have THREE ROOMS, guaranteed to enhance your musical pleasure. Choose one for your playing and listening pleasure.
Room 1. The Main Stage: Just like in-person, the evening starts with a short set by one of our own, after which performers will get a two-song slot and a chance to entertain for our admiring audience.
To sign up and perform, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Room 2. The Terrace Room: Scotty Rovner and Glen Coleman are back, hosting the beloved song circle. Show up, take a turn, and share a song. You loved this live, so we’re bringing it back virtually.
Room 3. The Vidal Sassoon Green Room: In this private room, musicians can do a sound check with our Open Stage Tech Expert. He’ll help you adjust your setup to make sure your performance sounds great over the internet. He can also check your makeup and tell you that you look marvelous.
Every Open Stage begins with a featured set by one or more gifted performers selected from our Folk Project community. On Friday, April 9th, it’s Ken Meyle and Carolyn Cott. Ken has performed in concert series and festivals in the tri-state area and taught guitar, mandolin, and banjo since the ’70s. His musical range includes folk, bluegrass and swing. Carolyn is a singer-songwriter who has played various Philadelphia area venues, including Bryn Mawr Twilight Concert Series, Steel City Coffee House, Chaplin’s, and Upper Merion Concerts Under the Stars.
It’s an honor and joy to bring back this special part of our community, and I invite you all to join us at stayaway.FolkProject.org.
